Company History

Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy, formerly Metro Physical Therapy, was established in 1982 by Sherrie Glasser, M.S. P.T. and has remained privately owned and operated by her all of these years. Metro is Long Island’s best family owned Physical Therapy practice. That means that we have been providing the highest quality and most comprehensive care possible to each and every patient for 30 years!

We have locations in:

Bellmore
Garden City
Kew Gardens
Great Neck
Rocky Point
East Hills Sid Jacobson JCC

Metro Physical Therapy also provides Homecare and Transportation for the local community, as well as in house physical therapy for the Atria in Great Neck, Roslyn Harbor, and Kew Gardens. In fact, Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy is one of the largest privately owned and managed facilities in the region. All of our facilities offer extensive and caring physical therapy services, by licensed Physical Therapists, Physical Therapist Assistants, Athletic Trainers, and Massage therapists.

We have been so successful because our primary focus centers on patient care, that’s you! We strive to make the patient experience a positive and healthy one. Through continuing education, our physical therapists have advanced knowledge in women’s health, orthopedic injuries, balance complications, and sports related injuries. We also offer a host of treatment options including ALL physical therapy modalities, hands on therapy, massage, and a full range of professional gym equipment and varied classes that accommodate the spectrum of rehabilitation needs. If that wasn’t enough, what really makes our facilities so special is the aquatic exercise program we offer. Our all natural salt water hot pool enables us to provide a comprehensive therapeutic approach, which uses aquatic exercises to aide in the rehabilitation of various conditions.

While our primary goal is of course for all patients to obtain their desired level of activity, we also want to prevent future injuries, therefore, in conjunction with our cutting edge treatment options, we also provide home exercises and emphasize patient education (such as neck and back school) to enhance form and function, thus reducing the chances of future injuries.

At Metro Physical & Aquatic Therapy, we emphasize living a healthy and active lifestyle, which is why we encourage all patients to enroll in our “live well” program after they have completed physical therapy. At Metro, we foster a healthy environment by providing nutritional counseling, exercise classes, and a full line of fitness equipment that includes medicine balls, free weights, kettle bells, and much more. In preparation for return to work or sports, our facility provides work conditioning programs, as well as, sports specific activities and agility drills. Our goal is to provide total fitness and encourage strengthening while recovering.
